MATERIALS AND CARE
Vermeil, pronounced “ver-may”, is a technique of gold plating that originated in 18th century France.
To be classified as Vermeil, the base of the jewellery must be .925 sterling silver (not brass or other cheaper metals). Sterling silver is a standard material used in high-quality jewellery, and must be expertly plated with a thick layer of gold, at least 10 karat gold. The higher the karat, the higher the gold content. Vermeil is not solid gold, but a thicker gold plating than your average gold-plated jewellery.
It is the perfect option for those with metal allergies due to durable thickness of the gold combined with the base of sterling silver.
With our .925 sterling silver rhodium plated, 14k gold and 14k rose gold Vermeil, you can be sure that Gia and Dawn jewellery is made to last.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GIA AND DAWN JEWELLERY
It is essential to clean your jewellery with a soft cloth like the one we enclose with our gift box. Don’t be over enthusiastic with buffing though. Just enough to keep it’s shine.
It is important to keep chemicals away from your jewellery. Cleaning products, chlorines, perfumes, make up, moisturises and salt water are some of the examples. Contact with such elements can result in tarnishing. Working up a sweat, swimming and showering whilst wearing your jewellery can also impact the appearance.
When not wearing your Gia and Dawn jewellery, please keep it in the pouch provided. Your pouch contains an anti tarnish strip to keep moisture out and the pouch will keep your Gia and Dawn piece from being possibly scratched by other jewellery. Your jewellery needs to be kept out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
To maintain its lustre and help to protect against wear and tear, we recommend you clean your Gia and Dawn jewellery with the following cleaning and care instructions.
Diamonds and 9k Jewellery
- Place your 9k jewellery in warm water and mild detergent. Leave for 5 – 10 minutes
- Using a soft bristle brush, carefully brush your jewellery
- Once you feel your jewellery is clean, rinse thoroughly with warm water
- Gently pat dry, taking care of any fibres that may catch
Pearls
Pearls are very delicate and require proper care. To help keep your pearls free from any perfumes, oils or makeup, try putting your pearls on at the last minute before going out. Once finished wearing your pearls, wipe them over gently before storing in a safe place.
